That PAC Deal Might Be Interesting

22 May 2019

Enforcement Counsel Risa Sugarman

New York State Board of Elections

40 North Pearl Street, Suite 5

Albany, NY  12207

Dear Enforcement Counsel:

A while back, I called your office regarding possible voter fraud here in Utica.  I wanted to provide an update. To get clarity on 10 Liberty Street, I filed this:  https://bobbyo.blog/2019/05/10/the-10-liberty-street-mystery/

Just in case something “funny” is going on there, I filed this: https://bobbyo.blog/2019/05/11/a-fire-would-be-horrible/

In the next few days, the District Attorneyis  going to get a joint letter filed with the County Clerk and the Utica Tax Assessor.  At current, property owners can submit “fake”, as in cannot be residential addresses due to zoning concerns, addresses on property records and there is no place to file a complaint.  It would appear that the #NoHospitalDowntown effort is taking advantage of this situation to hide cash.

However, that is not all.  It also appears that #NoHospitalDowntown has emerged into a PAC.  It should be noted that up until now, they have followed none of the statutes regarding activity of this kind.

Originally, I was hesitant to make this claim since the Hospital issue had not come before any public body.  With no political question on the table, it could be argued that they were just citizens engaging in free speech.

That all changed when the Utica Planning Board accepted the SEQR report regarding the hospital.  While the vote was unanimous, it became clear the expense of capital was designed to affect opinion.  As you know, nowhere in campaign finance law does it say a group has to be “successful” in order to have their actions guided by appropriate statute.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Robert T. Oliveira

An Update And An Invitation

21 May 2019

Oneida County District Attorney Scott D. McNamara

Oneida County District Attorney’s Office

235 Elizabeth Street

Utica, NY  13501

Dear Mr. District Attorney:

Just wanted to give you an update about a situation I had alerted you to outside your office.

In the next few days, you’re going to get a joint letter filed with the County Clerk and the Utica Tax Assessor as well.  At current, property owners can submit “fake”, as in cannot be residential addresses due to zoning concerns, addresses on property records and there is no place to file a complaint.  I would like this rectified locally instead of punting it into the hands of a judge.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Robert T. Oliveira

A Long Way To Walk

Dear Editors:

Now that Election Day is here and it will not be seen as a controversial issue to handle during the race, there is something we need to discuss.  The placement of polling places in a School District race as opposed to the locations for a “regular municipal” race is just, well, weird.

The reason I did not want to bring this up during the race is that the issue would have been politicized and no real solution would have been filed.  It is clear that those who designed the School District polling place map have a “resentment” against people of color, immigrants, and the physically disabled.

You need not look any further than the Ward 1 Precinct 1 polling place situated at Donovan School.  On average, this is a full 1.6 miles further away than it is during a regular race.

It cannot be said enough: there is an element still hanging around our school system that people find out about and it keeps them away.  Instead of just accepting the element, we should be using social media to point out the element’s efforts whenever it attempts to do anything.  If we stay strong, the element will be forced to relent and our school system shall reach its true potential. In the meantime, some people will just be happier that they can vote closer to home.

Sincerely,

Robert T. Oliveira

Bringing Parties Together

Welcome to the Celtic Feast of Brigid.  Danu and Dagada are so proud. The best thing you can do, since you don’t have a Spring is adorn your tub.  Once adorned, you really should make love next to it but I know how difficult that can be for some of you.

Monday May 20th:  Anybody look at the polling places for the Utica School District Race??  You should. Looks like somebody is intentionally getting screwed.

Tuesday May 21st:  The District Attorney needs an update on the voter fraud story.  If Mr. Truett ran a tighter ship, this wouldn’t be necessary.

Wednesday May 22nd:  The Enforcement folks at the State Board of Elections also need an update.  They sounded so happy on the phone.

Thursday May 23rd:  Remember when I FOIL’d the Liberty Street addresses??  I think the Camden folks should know how close they came to becoming famous.

Friday May 24th:  The Oneida County Clerk and the Utica Tax Assessor need to make a decision before a court does.  Time to bring them to the table.

Over on Patreon, there will be the Plan for the Week Memo.  You might even see 2, count ‘em 2, videos. By the way, it’s not that I’m good at the videos, I just like doing them.

Please be aware, as we discovered many times, that this is only a schedule and real events can happen.  However, I’m trying to get back to the old days where more Blogs appeared and not less. This week, expect follow-ups and updates along the way.

I Guess You Noticed

There was no schedule this week.  That wasn’t by accident.  I spent most of the week discussing how to bring another golf equipment retailer to the area if no deal with the other two establishments can be reached.  When I wasn’t doing that, I was discussing how to make enough money to survive when I was doing that.

I figured rather than post a schedule I couldn’t hold to, it would make more sense to take a break.  There will be blogs posted this weekend.  A couple are a surprise.  However, this way if I don’t get to something, I’m not disappointing anyone.

Not only has LuVox brought my OCD way down, it’s made it easier to be honest with myself about what can and can’t be done.  It may not seem like much but these are major steps forward.

Who makes all of this possible??

It would be this young lady.  My girlfriend Elisa.

IMG9513491

Somehow she deals with both my creativity and my mental illness.  She has my passwords to make sure I’m not in mania.  She is there to encourage me to go ever farther with creativity.

Without here, I’d be even more of an OCD mess with or without LuVox.  She is the perfect muse while never losing any of her life partner qualities.  A lot of muses can’t say that.

So in the coming weeks, as some battles get weird and much creativity gets displayed, please remember that without Elisa, none of it would be happening.  You’re more than welcome to send her a thank you.
